Founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party, Akua Donkor says should she win the upcoming presidential elections, her government will make ‘Twi’ the official language of the Ghana.
She argues that, since the days of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of Ghana, Ghanaians have changed and promoted local things such as eating of local foods, wearing of made in Ghana clothes among others but have failed to make one of its local languages the official language other than English.
“We are Ghanaians and not British, why can’t we speak our own language? she questions. “Should I win the elections in December, I will make Twi the official language and no longer English”.
Akua Donkor’s GFP is among the seventeen parties that has filed nominations to contest the 2020 elections.
Among the policies she wish to implement should she become Ghana’s president in 2021, is to make the port free as well as electricity and water.
