Former president John Mahama is worried should he win the upcoming 2020 elections, the incumbent president Akufo Addo won’t hand over peacefully to him.
His comments is in reference to the barrage of violence that has characterized the ongoing voters registration exercise.
The exercise since it began has recorded some level of violence in some areas, leading to the death of some people and others sustaining machete wounds.
Speaking at Bole in the in the Savannah Region after successfully registering for his voters card, John Mahama said he expects President Akufo Addo to hand over a peaceful country to him as he did in 2016.
“President Rawlings is the first president in the fourth republic and he handed over a peaceful nation to President Kufour, president Kufour also handed over a peaceful country to President Mills, after the unfortunate demise of President Mills, I took over in 2012 and 2016 I handed over a peaceful nation to President Akufo Addo. Now look at what is happening” he said.
