The nomination of Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman as running mate to John Dramani Mahama of the NDC, is giving members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) sleepless night, MP for Ningo Prampram, Sam George has said.
He noted that after the nomination of Jane Naana, the NPP has mounted a relentless attack on her personality with the intention to find fault with her nomination.
Speaking on the Key Point on Accra based TV3, monitored by Newsgogh.com, he insisted that the Professor has no dent on her reputation and that upon all the allegations the NPP will throw at her, it won’t wash.
“You Know, the choice of Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman is giving the NPP sleepless night” he said.
Private legal practitioner, Deborah Dzawa Donkor believes the selection of Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang for the role can tilt the tables in favour of the opposition party.
She, however, cautions the NDC will be made to answer for any tendencies to suggest the appointment of the former University of Cape Coast Vice-Chancellor is just a vote-winning gesture.
“The NDC must remember that we intend to hold them accountable if they win or if they don’t. And it’s not going to be like it’s just there that Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang is not going to be just a token to, as it were, appease females and as Nana said, swing the women’s vote in the favour of the NDC.
“They should know that we are watching and we intend to hold them accountable for putting her there and it’s not just because she’s a woman so we’re all happy then that’s just it. I believe that indeed it’s exciting but they should know we will hold them accountable,” said Madam Donkor.
