The Energy Ministry has rubbished claims and suggestions that perhaps the recent frequent power cuts being experience in some parts of the country is not the return of ‘dumsor’.
Although the opposition NDC and other citizens have raised concerns over the current happenings in the power sector, having course to describe it as ‘dumsor’, the energy ministry thinks otherwise.
Two days ago, angry customers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in Ashanti regional capital Kumasi demanded for a timetable for power rationing that has been ongoing in the region for some weeks.
Residents in communities in the region continue to complain about unannounced power cuts which last between 6 and 8 hours daily without announcement.
But speaking on Accra based TV3, public relations officer for the energy ministry, Nana Damoah describe what is happening as technical challenge and not ‘dumsor’ as experienced some years past.
According to him, it is rather on the part of propaganda for anyone, particularly the minority and the NDC to suggest that dumsor is back.
