President Akufo Addo has extended his congratulations message to the newly elected president of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku.
“I extend warm congratulations to Mr. Kurt E. S. Okraku on his election as the 24th President of the Ghana Football Association. He has earned the confidence and trust of the football fraternity, and his victory is well-deserved” he tweeted.
“Football remains the passion of our nation, and I urge all to rally behind him in realising his vision for the growth and development of #Ghana football” he added.
Kurt Okraku emerge winner of today’s marathon GFA elections after coming top with 93% of the votes.
The presidential elections held in Accra on Friday went to a second round when all candidates could not get the required over 50 percent.
Fred Pappoe,Amanda Clinton and George Mensah all pulled out after the first round following poor voting results.
Nana Yaw Amponsah,Kurt Okraku and George Afriyie competed in the second round but none again had the required votes.
With the elections set to enter a third round,George Afriyie mounted the podium and announced his decision to concede defeat making Kurt Okraku the eventual winner and the new GFA president taking over from the normalization committee who took over from Kwesi Nyantakyi.
