A group known as the Concern NDC Youth of Asawase has asked the leadership of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to rescind on its decision on making minority Chief Whip Muntaka Mubarak run unopposed in the party’s parliamentary race.
According to the group, they will advice the disqualified parliamentary hopeful Massawudu Mubarick to go independent if the party does not allow for delegates in the Asawase constituency to choose their own parliamentary candidate for the party through the ballot.
They further accuse senior officials of the party for doing business with the party. Particularly they mention the general secretary of the party Mr. Johnson Aseidu Nketia of been behind the development.
The NDC in the Ashanti Region has been in the news for some time now, following the disqualification of Massawudu Mabarick.
Angry supporters of Mubarak last stormed the NDC’s Ashanti Regional office, setting tyres ablaze in protest of the party’s decision to disqualify their candidate from contesting for incumbent Member of Parliament for Asawase constituency Muntaka Mubarak for the chance to represent the party in the 2020 parliamentary elections.
